Day 155 Aug 31st

We rode to  the Fayette Historical Townsite today. From 1867 to 1891 the Jackson Iron Company produced charcoal iron for the American steel industry here. It was a company town with 500 residents. It is a Michigan state park now with 20 structures remaining including the furnace complex. 230,000 tons of iron pigs were produced here.
Also stopped by the Superior Dome in Marquette. This is the 5th largest dome in the world and the largest wooden dome in the world. Part of the University of Northern Michigan.
Had a camping rig set up next to us consisting of a 1929 Ford truck pulling a 1929 pop up camper. Very cool.
245 miles traveled today finishing up back in Marquette.

Day 152 Aug 28th

Today was a pretty easy day. With the Labor Day holiday weekend coming up we thought we would setup a camp for the next four nights to avoid full campgrounds. Rode from Houghton to Marquette MI and found a city campground that had a space left for the four days. Seems like a good place to take day trips from. Another beautiful day with temps in mid 60's.
Only 99 miles ridden today.

Day 149 Aug 25th

Today we rode from Dubuque Iowa to Hudson Wisconsin. Crossed back and forth between Wisconsin and Minnesota over the Mississippi river.
When we left Hannibal MO we decided to ride to the Mississippi head waters up the Great River route. So we have been on those roads for last two days. The ride between Hannibal and Dubuque was OK scenery wise. The ride today from Dubuque to Hudson was much prettier with some elevation changes thrown in.
We woke up to a severe thunderstorm and started the ride in the rain, but weather got much better as day wore on. Finished up with lower humidity and 79 degrees.
Rode 279 miles today.
