Day 106 July 12th

We spent the day checking out Butte MT where we are holed up for a few more days. Butte is famous for copper mining. Town motto is The Richest Hill in the World. They have been mining here since the 1870's. There is a pit mine that is 7000 feet long and 5000 feet wide. Its 1800 feet deep. There are also over 10,000 miles of underground tunnels and shafts. There has been over 48 billion dollars worth of copper and other metals mined from here. It is also a EPA Superfund site for contamination concerns.
Also went back to the Montana Folk Festival for a while today.
